Meeting Minutes For September 23, 2000

The Tallahassee Hemerocallis Society met on September 23, 2000, at the Leon County Agricultural Center. President Bill Knight called the meeting to order.

President Knight recognized various members for their part in producing and mailing the newsletter (Angela Smith, Yvonne Weems, Opal Howell and Betty Winkler) and, obtaining, dividing and tagging the plants for the sale table (Opal Howell and Betty Winkler). He also called attention to our web page (thsgardens.org) and Webmaster Rita Meng. Dot Ryan told the group that Edith Butler is not able to get out much but she and Dot wish to express their thanks for the first Edith Butler/Dot Ryan Award given at our annual daylily show.

President Knight announced that our October meeting will be on the 28^th with Jan Joiner of Joiner Gardens, Savannah, speaking. The time will be announced later. Bill urged members to attend the Region 12 meeting to be held September 30 in Lake City. He also reminded members that dues for 2001 should be paid to Opal Howell. New members were recognized.

Opal Howell introduced Sam Windham from the Dothan, Alabama daylily club. Sam has served his club and region in several capacities. He showed slides of daylily photos he had taken at recent AHS regional and national meetings.

Club members enjoyed receiving great daylilies as door prizes and purchasing same at the sale table.
