President Sharon Agosta called the meeting to order at 2:04. She thanked Maryzell Roberts and Linda Henderson for today’s delicious refreshments. She welcomed Sharon Oberlon as a visitor and perspective new member as well as returning visitors/members Diane Whitfield and Heather and Savannah France.
Secretary Linda Henderson read the minutes from the September meeting and they were accepted as read. She also read a thank you letter from Tim and Katisue Herrington, our guest speakers in September.
Vice President Kim Green gave the treasury report since Treasurer Jill Mercer is out of the country. Our current balance is $6952.65. Kim also reported that the club received a profit of a little over $500.00 from the Silent Auction at the Region 12 Meeting.
OLD BUSINESS
Sharon Agosta gave a report on the Region 12 Meeting which was held on Oct. 14 at the Holiday Inn on North Monroe St. in Tallahassee. She thanked Cindy & Randy Fleming for chairing the Silent Auction Committee, and Joe Agosta, Maryzell Roberts, Opal Howell, Gene Kelly and Bryan Powers for donating plants.
Five copies of 50 Years of Daylilies have been ordered from AHS by the club for donation to public libraries in Tallahassee to encourage public awareness. Sharon and Linda will take care of this project.
Enough members have signed up for Eurakas for them to be ordered through the club at a discounted price.
The calendar of events was passed out to those who did not receive one last month.
NEW BUSINESS
2007 Flower Show still needs a Show Chair or Co-chair. Please let Sharon know if you are interested.
2006-2007 Membership Directories were distributed.
Our club website now has the minutes posted after each meeting.
Emily Hawthorn has volunteered to purchase awards for the 2007 Flower Show.
There was a 15 minute discussion on what members should be doing in the garden this month. Members contributed information on what they were doing followed by a question and answer session.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:35 with the next meeting scheduled for January 28 at 2:00.
Club members Joe Agosta, Maryzell Roberts, Abe Whitfield, Cindy & Randy Fleming, and Patrick Collins presented a wonderful slide show of their gardens and seedling plants. The flowers were beautiful!
Winner of the AHS Drawing plant (2007 Introduction by Dan Trimmer - The Great Goolsby) was youth member Heather France.
