Meeting Minutes For October 28, 2000

The Tallahassee Hemerocallis Society met on October 28, 2000, at the Leon County Agricultural Center with President Bill Knight presiding.

A plant sale was held before and after the meeting. President Knight introduced several members of the club.

Bill announced that the AHS spring region 12 meeting will be in Jacksonville on May 18, 19, and 20, 2001. He asked the group to consider several dates for the Tallahassee show next spring. Possible dates were May 12, May 13, May 26 or May 27. Members voted to hold the show on Saturday, May 12, 2001. Members also voted to extend an invitation for the Region 12 meeting to be held in Tallahassee during the 3^rd weekend of 2002.

President Knight reminded members to pay their dues for the coming year to treasurer Opal Howell. Dues are $5.00 per person per year.

Opal Howell introduced Jan Joiner who presented the program. Jan showed slides of the family daylily nursery operations, photos of her introductions and shared with members how three generations of Joiners work together to produce their daylilies. Jan was accompanied by her husband Royce who commented on some of the gardening practices of his father, Enman Joiner.

A plant auction of several Joiner introductions followed the Joiners' presentation.

Next, daylily door prizes were given to many lucky attendees.

Following the announcement of the door prize winners, the meeting was adjourned.
