Meeting Minutes For February 24, 2001

The Tallahassee Hemerocallis Society held its Mid-Winter Social on February 24, 2001, at the First Baptist Church, president Bill Knight presiding. Bill introduced guests and asked those present to introduce themselves to the group.

Louise Jones gave a show report. The group voted to give each judge for our show $100. We will have a local award for a polytepal daylily and the Edith Butler/Dot Ryan award. The plans for the activity on Friday night are undecided. The members were reminded to bring 10 fans to donate to the sale.

Bill reminded members the 2001 Region 12 Spring Meeting will be in Jacksonville.

There was discussion of the club purchasing plants for the gardens which will be on tour during the 2002 regional in Tallahassee. The club voted to spend $1000 now and more later. Dot Ryan will chair a committee to select tour gardens.

Betty Winkler introduced our guest speaker, Dan Hansen, of Ladybug Gardens, Geneva, Florida. After Dan’s talk door prizes were distributed and an auction was held.
